It links directly to your Reliant Bank checking account to easily deducts funds for point-of-sale purchases or ATM withdrawals. This eliminates the need to write checks or carry around cash.

Lost or Stolen Debit/ATM Cards

Cardholders are encouraged to monitor account transaction history and notify the bank immediately of fraudulent charges or compromise concerns.

To report a lost or stolen debit/ATM card during normal business hours, please contact your local branch or banker for assistance. After business hours, please call 1-800-472-3272. Please note that if you report your card lost or stolen after-business hours, you will need to contact your local branch or banker the next business day to secure a replacement card.

Cardholders can also fight debit card fraud  within CardValet, a service available from Reliant’s mobile app. CardValet will allow you to temporarily block transactions (except pending and recurring transactions) if you believe your debit card number has been compromised. This services also allows you to establish real-time alerts for transactions allowing you to manage, track and report specific types of usage and quickly detect unauthorized activity. Cardholders set alerts and control preferences using a variety of options to customize the experience. CardValet features include:

  1. Location-based alerts and controls: Location controls restrict transactions to merchants located within a certain range of each cardholder's location (using the phone's GPS); transactions requested outside of the specified range can be declined.
  2. Usage alerts and controls: Users can establish spending limits to allow transactions up to a certain dollar value and decline transactions when amounts exceed pre-defined thresholds.
  3. Merchant alerts and controls: Transactions can be monitored or controlled for specific purchases such as gas, hotel, travel, restaurants and groceries. Transactions can also be monitored and controlled for specific transaction categories like in-store purchases, e-commerce transactions, mail/phone orders and ATM transactions.
  4. On/off setting: This control can disable a lost or stolen card. When the card is "on," transactions are allowed in accordance with each cardholder's usage control settings. When the card is "off," no purchases or withdrawals are approved until the card is turned back "on.”
Activating a New Debit/ATM Card

If you receive your card at a Reliant Bank branch, you'll select your Personal Identification Number (PIN), the card will be activated and available to use immediately. If you receive your card in the mail, you will activate it and select your PIN by calling 1-800-992-3808.   You can change your PIN at any time from a Reliant Bank ATM or by calling this 800 number.

Declined Debit Card

Your debit card transaction may be declined if you have insufficient funds in your account. If you experience a card decline but have sufficient funds in your account, this may be the result of suspicious activity. When Reliant's debit card provider is alerted due to suspected fraudulent activity, a temporary hold is placed on your debit card. This is a protective measure to prevent fraudulent charges from appearing on your account. To quickly resolve the issue, call 877-253-8964 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's also a good practice to provide your mobile number as part of the account opening. This enables quick contact to you if suspicious activity is detected.

International Usage and Your Debit/ATM Card

All foreign Debit/ATM Card transactions are automatically blocked due to the heightened risk of fraud. If you plan international travel, it is imperative that you notify Reliant Bank prior to your departure date  and establish a credit card as an alternative payment solution for foreign transactions.

Protecting Yourself from Fraud

Reliant Bank works with its debit card provider to minimize customers’ fraud exposure. A Fraud Management team is in place to monitor customers’ accounts and assess any suspicious activity.  From time-to-time, you may receive a call regarding your account activity.  This is a protective measure in place to verify transactions on your account.  The Fraud Management team will never ask you for your account number, debit card number or PIN. If you are contacted by the Fraud Management team and still have questions about your account, please contact your local branch or banker for assistance.

Reliant Bank advises all customers to beware of suspicious emails that could be potential phishing scams. Typically, scammers pose as a financial institution representative, claim there are fraudulent transactions on your account, and request you call a phone number or visit a website. Never click on associated links within these types of emails or respond with any sensitive information. Should you receive any emails of this nature, contact your local branch or banker immediately.
