The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for oversight, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure equipment. This individual leads technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures.  The Senior Systems Engineer is accountable for the following systems: Windows systems, Virtualization systems, Storage systems, LAN/WAN support for multiple offices, Data Center operations, Tier 2 & 3 Support requests, and projects as assigned by the SVP, Information Technology Manager.



  • Develops IT budget
  • Provides oversight of IT spending to stay within board approved budget

IT Infrastructure

  • Installs, supports and maintains Windows Server environment
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviews system and application logs, and verifies completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performs routine monitoring of the IT environment to identify potential weaknesses or opportunities for improvement
  • Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrades administrative tools and utilities. Configures and / adds new services as necessary
  • Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Maintains IT inventory tracking
  • Serves as project lead on IT infrastructure projects


  • Provides Tier 2 & 3 and other support per request from end users.
  • Serves as a key member and technical resource of the bank’s Disaster Recovery team.
  • Works collaboratively with the bank’s Chief Information Security Officer to establish and maintain a strong security posture
  • Serves in a “lead by example” role to all bank employees in understanding sound IT practices
  • Partners with Operations and internal clients to understand known issues and implement improved processes, address and diagnose performance and stability, and ensure good testing processes and standards


  • Utilizes technical skills and understanding to lead and /manage various IT projects utilizing in-house and outsourced staffing resources
  • Takes leadership in owning issue resolution and driving issues to completion
  • Embraces new products and technologies
  • Promotes the Bank’s products and services whenever possible; participates in bank sponsored events, and networking and volunteer opportunities.

  • College degree with an emphasis in Business Administration, Financial, Accounting and/or Information Technology preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience with complex IT infrastructure environments including a wide range of technologies (e.g. multisite WAN, on-premise and cloud resources, stable and mobile user-base, virtualization and server replication technologies)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as: Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Active Directory, Group Policy, WSUS, SCCM, Office 365
  • Strong knowledge of Hyper-V or VMware & Fiber-Channel or iSCSI Storage
  • Working knowledge of network technologies and services: DHCP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points.
  • Desired Certifications: MCSE & CCNA
  • Financial Services or Banking industry experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing, speaking and listening
  • Ability to travel to Reliant Bank locations throughout footprint
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings and on a rotating on-call schedule from 6am to 10pm CST, 7 days a week
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and within a team environment
  • Demonstrates a commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines
  • Ability to work with Business Analysts and Vendors to understand all application layer functions related downstream business processes
