PURPOSE OF JOB

The Mortgage Loan Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the timely review and audit of mortgage loans through activities such as auditing loan closing documents, reverification of loan application information, assisting with pre-close and post-close mortgage loan file audits. This position is also responsible for maintaining loan quality by adhering to procedures, federal, state and agency compliance requirements, underwriting and closing guidelines.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all regulatory rules and regulations, immediately reports any suspicious behavior and/or situations that may result in criminal or emergency incidents.
  • Reviews and corrects loan files for quality assurance using a pre-determined checklist prior to closing.
  • Performs required verbal or written re-verification of employment.
  • Verifies that proper loan disclosures have been provided to the borrower and are in the loan file.
  • Inspect 1003 for completeness.
  • Ensures processed files comply with Reliant’s published policies and underwriting requirements.
  • Perform post-closing quality control verifications of employment, deposit, etc.
  • Works with our third-party quality control vendor by providing a list of closed loans for them to select for audit.
  • Works with our third-party vendor by shipping them selected files and clearing conditions after their initial review
  • Completes additional due diligence research for noted red flags of loan files.
  • Identify process improvements and training needs in the sales, fulfillment and underwriting areas.
  • Works with document technology provider ensuring all custom forms are up to date.
  • Prepares custom forms as instructed.
  • Assists in the development of a successful business strategy by providing proactive and constructive feedback on techniques, strategies, and concerns
  • Promotes the Bank’s products and services whenever possible; participates in bank sponsored events, networking and volunteer opportunities at every opportunity

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Three or more years of mortgage processing, mortgage loan quality control or closing experience preferred
  • Proficient understanding of mortgage banking concepts and regulations
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVCC, TILA and RESPA guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively through writing, speaking and listening.
  • Outstanding organization, attention to detail, analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide superior level of customer service
  • Knowledge of Calyx Point LOS and DU and LP AUS preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work overtime as requested, especially the last ten business days of each month.
