BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – May 6, 2021 – Reliant Bank donated numerous pieces of artwork, valued at more than $25,000, to Belmont’s O’More College of Architecture & Design in Nashville and to the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The donated pieces were extracted from one of bank’s branches in Clarksville— and were provided to the two organizations in an effort to protect the historical value, while allowing community members to enjoy them for years to come when visiting O’More and the Customs House.
“Reliant maintains an unwavering commitment to provide continual support to our local communities,” said John R. Wilson, President, Reliant Bank. “It is our privilege to present these unique pieces, with local heritage, to such outstanding organizations.”
O’More College of Architecture & Design is incorporated into the liberal arts setting at Belmont University and specializes in educational art and design programs, building on historical traditions to help serve modern needs and cultural values.
“The faculty, staff, and students of the O’More College of Architecture & Design are delighted by the gift of these works painted by our namesake, Eloise O’More, who was a trailblazer in Middle Tennessee. As displayed in our building on the Belmont University campus, these paintings will serve as a strong reminder of her broad accomplishments in art and design,” said Jhennifer A. Amundson, Ph.D., Dean, O’More College of Architecture and Design.
The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is a non-profit organization with a mission to collect and preserve historical and artistic items and is the second-largest general interest museum in the state. Over the next few months, the museum will assess and catalog each donated art piece and a future exhibition will be planned.
“On behalf of the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center Board of Trustees, we are very grateful to Reliant Bank that these significant works of art will become part of the museum’s permanent collection,” said Frank Lott, Executive Director, Customs House Museum & Cultural Center. “These pieces were all done by numerous local artists over the time of about 20 years. Because many of the subjects depicted are local, the art chronicles an important period of Clarksville-Montgomery County history. It is a great idea to maintain these works as a collection.”
The three paintings donated to Belmont are valued at $4,600 and the 59 fine art items donated to the Customs House are valued at $20,875.
